Cosentyx® (secukinumab) side effects

Like many medications, Cosentyx can potentially have side effects, some of which may be serious. However, not everybody will get them. You may experience the following side effects:

Very common

(more than 1 in 10 people)

  • Sore throat
  • Stuffy nose

Common

(Up to 1 in 10 people)

  • Cold sore
  • Diarrhoea
  • Runny nose

Two important side effects to be aware of are allergic reactions and serious infections:

Possible signs of allergic reactions.
Stop using Cosentyx and seek immediate medical help if you experience any of the following:

  • difficulty breathing/swallowing
  • low blood pressure (dizziness, light-headedness)
  • severe itching of the skin, red rash or raised bumps
  • swelling of the face, lips, mouth, throat

Possible signs of serious infections.
Stop using Cosentyx and tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately if you experience any of the following:

  • fever, flu-like symptoms, night sweats
  • feeling tired/short of breath; cough that won’t go away
  • warm, red/painful skin or a painful skin rash with blisters
  • burning sensation when passing urine

If you experience any side effects (including those not listed here), talk to your doctor, nurse or pharmacist as soon as possible.
